Dubai a big hit even in a 'recession'

Dubai is one of the few destinations still holding strong in the global recession with year-on-year increases on visitor numbers. Close to 2 million visitors went to the Arab state in April to June 2009 with the majority from the UK and Ireland. For Dubai, this is a 4% increase compared to the same period in 2008.

Dubai's coastal holiday resorts are loooking at 90% occupancy rates for September and 2009 has followed in the record breaking wake of 2008 for Dubai's tourism figures.
