Visitors to apartments in Mijas are not welcome by the courts

150 gypsy families are now squatting in an empty, unfinished housing development in Mijas which has been repossessed.

The development of some 34 apartments including Penthouses, car park and enclosed gardens is called Golden Hills, Mijas. It is owned by the banks since construction stopped after financial problems for the builder over two years ago.

The gypsy families have said that they have moved into the empty apartments because of the deterioration and condition of their own homes in Molino de Viento. They are willing to take on the electricity bills, the water bills and "everything that is necessary."

Local Police and Civil Guards are patrolling the area and are expecting the courts to issue an eviction order shortly.
