While staying in your holiday villa this summer use your mobile phone abroad with care

Taking your mobile phone abroad can work out rather expensive unless you follow the tips below. Last year a holiday maker stating in a villa in Portugal was sent a bill for £31,000 from his mobile provider after downloading an episode of Prison Break.

Take a look at our tip below and see how you can save on mobile phone charges while abroad this year:

1. Skype
Many mobile handsets will now allow you to download Skype so you can call other Skype users free of charge BUT ALWAYS make sure you're on a free wifi connection or you'll be charged huge amounts for the 3G data.

2. International SIM card
Buying a local SIM card can be the cheapest way of using your mobile if you are renting a villa in Spain or anywhere in Europe.

3. Text
It's free to receive texts abroad.

4. Find an internet cafe
Browsing the internet on your phone on holiday is always a bad idea - find an internet cafe and get your fix here!

5. Answer phone messages
Accessing your voicemail while staying in your holiday villa can cost as much as £1 per minute. TURN OFF your voicemail before going away and tell people to text you if they need you.

Is the Island of Lanzarote just too windy?

Having recently returned from renting one of our owners in Lanzarote
villas I decided to write a blog about the lovely villa and great time
that myself and my family had in our villa in Lanzarote.

Playa Blanca is great for a family holiday and I can recommend it
entirly!

Make sure that you check out the rock pools and enjoy the beach bars
when you rent a villa in Lanzarote!

Staying in a villa in Lanzarote this summer - Timanfaya National Park is a MUST SEE attraction

If you have decided to stay in one of the great apartments or villas in Lanzarote then one of the MUST DO things during your holiday is to visit Timanfaya National Park.

The Timanfaya National Park is the most popular tourist attraction there is in Lanzarote. The park is located in the south west and is a mass of volcanic rock. The area in question errupted for a total of 5 years creating the moon-like landscape of Lanzarote. If you are staying in a villa in Playa Blanca or close by, then the park is just 20-30 minutes drive away. If you have an apartment in Yaiza then you are even closer to this holiday attraction.

When you arrive at the park, you will be charged €8 each to enter. A short drive will take you to the show area where you can see just how hot the ground under the volcanic landscape still is. A bus trip around the park is included within the entry price and is well worth a go.

Make sure that you take suitable foot wear and something warm as it can be a little chilly on top of the volcano.

Timanfaya National Park visiting hours are 10:00 to 17:45.

Where ever you stay on the island of Lanzarote you can be sure that your holiday villa or apartment is not too far away from this natural wonder. Visit the Villa Holiday website and see what fantastic villas in Lanzarote our owners have to offer.
